(UE Plugin) Viewport Controls Mod
A downloadable Unreal Editor Plugin for Windows
I saw a 3D artist complaining on Bluesky about the left-click-drag behavior in Unreal Editor viewports and made this thing for them. I can't find the original post anymore (I think their account got deleted) but they seemed super grateful and I think it's worth sharing for other frustrated artists.
Basically this prevents you from accidentally moving the camera position/angle when you LMB+drag inside a viewport without hovering a gizmo handle, which is more in line with the behavior of other 3D editors. Unreal doesn't provide a way to disable this behavior so I found a clever way to override the default behavior and "fix" it.
Currently supports UE 5.4-5.8 - I can backport it further upon request (possibly even to UE4).
Downloads for Windows are packaged UPlugins with prebuilt DLLs provided for convenience, each of which are labelled with the UE version they are built for (e.g. ViewportControlsMod-5.6.zip is for Unreal 5.6, ViewportControlsMod-5.8.zip is for Unreal 5.8, etc.). It's a plugin so you can put it in your engine plugins or in a project's plugins.
Source code is on Codeberg:

If you download just the source code, you'll need to compile it for your platform, but it should work on Windows, Mac, and Linux provided your dev environment is set up to compile code for UE projects.
Enjoy!
